These doors fold open instead of swinging or sliding open. What is an automatic folding door?

An automatic folding door functions as a sliding door. Its panels, sometimes called leaves, are folded on one or two sides whenever the door is opened. The folding effect is reminiscent of an accordion.

Different types of automatic folding doors

Automatic folding doors come in many forms and serve several purposes. Any regular folding door could be retrofitted with an automation system. Therefore, the styles vary widely.

Fold-based

Some doors are bi-folded, meaning they are equipped with two panels. Whilst others are multi-folded, containing more than two panels, that fold open the centre of the door.

Material-based

The panels are usually made with tempered glass. The panel frames, however, come in different materials. The following are most commonly adopted:
