To respond to these safety risks, the Ontario Government has spearheaded a $25-million program that will provide funds to faith-based and cultural organizations to increase their security measures. Eligible organizations that qualify for the grant can receive a one-time benefit of $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000 based on their needs and 2019 revenue.

You don’t have to be a church, mosque, or synagogue to qualify for the Ontario Grant to Support Anti-Hate Security Measures for Faith-Based and Cultural Organizations! Not-for-profit corporations and charities that host monthly gatherings of cultural, spiritual, or religious significance – and that rent or own indoor facilities in which these gatherings are held – are also eligible, with the government providing up to $10,0000 in one-time grants. Sports teams, clubs, or organizations with mandates regarding education, housing, healthcare, and social services are not eligible, however.
